The student-to-teacher handover
How a student joins and gives you their number
Students can participate online or on paper. Readers who register online receive one unique Read for Jarjum number; younger students can use the printable Reading Log without creating an online profile.
Register safely
An adult completes the form using a safe public display name, such as a first name, family, class or group name.
Receive one number
The participant receives their unique Read for Jarjum number and fundraising share link immediately, with the same details sent by email.
Tell the teacher
The student gives their Read for Jarjum number to their teacher. A screenshot, printed confirmation or the confirmation email is fine.
Update the register
The teacher records the student’s real name beside the number in the private class register. New students can join at any time.

Three weeks of reading, culture and connection
Help students read First Nations stories, learn about Country, language and community, and celebrate their collective impact.
Before the challenge
- Confirm your school campaign page and coordinator contact.
- Ask students or parents to open the school page, select Join this team and register using a safe public display name.
- Each student gives you their Read for Jarjum number. Record their real name and number together only in the private class register.
- Use the same number to set a 5, 10 or 20-book goal, log reading and view progress. Younger students can instead use the printable Reading Log and participate fully on paper.
Keep the class moving
Week 1, ReadSet goals and begin with a story by a First Nations creator.
Week 2, LearnExplore the Country, language group or community connected to a story.
Week 3, GiveCelebrate readers and share your school’s collective impact.

A safe, simple recovery process

Your reading progress is still there
Use the same Read for Jarjum number each time. Recover it through the adult who registered you, the confirmation email, your teacher or your school coordinator, never through a public student-name search.
For students and families
- Check your printed number card, screenshot or registration confirmation.
- Search the adult contact’s inbox for the subject “Your Read for Jarjum fundraiser details”.
- Ask your teacher or school coordinator to check the private class register.
- Once recovered, use that same number to set a goal, log reading and view progress.
For teachers and coordinators
- Verify the student privately using your normal school process.
- Find the number and share link on the private class register and provide them directly to the student or parent.
- Never publish the match between the student’s real name and their number.
- If the number is not listed or does not work, contact Jarjum with the school and class details.
